Watch: Billy Crystal & Tiffany Haddish make unlikely pals in 'Here Today' trailer

If Thursday's trailer is an accurate indication, Here Today is a hilarious slice of humble pie.

The first-look at Billy Crystal's next project dropped exclusively through People before Sony Pictures Entertainment uploaded it to YouTube for all to see:

The upcoming comedy stars Crystal as veteran comedy writer Charlie Burnz opposite Tiffany Haddish as New York City street performer Emma Payge.

The trailer opens with the pair at lunch, where Charlie is beside himself that Emma, someone so much younger than he, could be a fan of his work. "I don't know who the hell you are," Emma says, noting her ex bid $22 on him and won. Emma then breaks out into a severe allergic reaction to the seafood lunch, and they rush to the hospital. The next two minutes give us a preview into Charlie's struggles and how that leads to him forming an unlikely friendship.

Here Today is directed by Crystal, and the 73-year-old Golden Globe nominee also co-wrote the script with Alan Zweibel (Saturday Night Live).

"I was really looking to do a movie about a relationship between an older man and a younger woman that was about friendship and love, but not in a romantic way," Crystal told People, later adding: "Throughout my career, I've been blessed with terrific partners in acting. Tiffany and I celebrated our differences, and I'm a good counter puncher."

Haddish is relatively fresh off becoming the first Black woman since Whoopi Goldberg (1986) to win a Grammy for best comedy album.

Here Today's cast includes Sharon Stone, Penn Badgley, Laura Benanti, Nyambi Nyambi, and more.

The film, based on a short story by Zweibel, is set to hit theaters May 7.
