Tiffany Haddish learned she won Grammy while filming 'Kids Say the Darndest Things'

"She ready!"

Tiffany Haddish is known for confidently saying that phrase, but the actress and comedienne was not ready for this.
While filming Kids Say the Darndest Things, Haddish's producer relayed through her earpiece that she had won the Grammy for best comedy album:

"I'm just happy for being nominated," Haddish began telling the young girls in the full YouTube video, before her producer took her by complete surprise. Haddish wiped away tears while her teeny guests grinned and clapped. The 41-year-old then pointed out that she is the first Black woman to win in the category since Whoopi Goldberg in 1986.

"Can I tell you why I'm crying?" she added, turning her accomplishment into a teaching moment. "It's a lot of bumpy roads that you cross, right? And it's a lot of times you feel like, am I doing the right thing? Is this good enough? Am I good enough? Am I strong enough to do this job? And then you just have to believe in yourself as much as you can."

Haddish was recognized for her Netflix special Black Mitzvah (NFSW language):

Previously, the Los Angeles native was nominated in 2019 under the best spoken word album category for The Last Black Unicorn, her bestselling memoir. Elsewhere on the awards circuit, Haddish won a Primetime Emmy in 2018 for her work on Saturday Night Live as outstanding guest actress in a comedy series.
