'This Is Us' star Justin Hartley will star in new CBS drama 'The Never Game'

Justin Hartley is leaving NBC for CBS.

The Hollywood Reporter relayed Thursday that Hartley "will star in and executive produce The Never Game, based on the novel by Jeffery Deaver, for CBS. The drama, which reunites Hartley with This Is Us director/EP Ken Olin, has scored a pilot production commitment from the network." It is expected to air during the 2022-23 season.

"The Never Game revolves around survivalist Colter Shaw (Hartley), who roams the country as a 'reward seeker' and uses his tracking skills to solve mysteries as he contends with his own fractured family," THR added.

"I couldn’t be happier that The Never Game is coming to CBS, and that Colter Shaw will be brought to life on screen soon," Hartley, 44, said in a statement. "When I read the book, I was immediately drawn to the character and the story; developing this project with Ken has been a true labor of love. Colter is going to kick some serious ass, and I can’t wait for audiences to meet him."

Deadline previously reported Hartley and Olin's attachment to the project in January.

Hartley has become synonymous with Kevin Pearson, whom he has played on This Is Us since it debuted in 2016. The record-breaking NBC drama—created by Dan Fogelman and also starring the likes of Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson and Chris Sullivan—will conclude after its sixth season airs next year.
