Arguably the king of beachy country tunes, Kenny Chesney's "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" was a massive hit following its release in 2003. It's the kind of song we can all relate to, with Chesney fantasizing about a place where there's no time clocks or bosses, and shoes simply aren't required.

A rockabilly tune written in 1958, "Summertime Blues" was a #1 hit for Alan Jackson in 1994. It's all about the things that keep us from summertime fun — like having to work late, or mom and dad refusing to let you use the car — and still somehow manages to be ridiculously fun.

Arguably the best country summer song of all time, "Chattahoochee" is Jackson's ode to being you and trying to get in trouble, centered around Georgia's Chattahoochee River. With water skiing, "laying rubber on the Georgia asphalt," and trying to hook up with a girl, it feels perfectly nostalgic while laying out beside the water.

This catchy, beachy tune about escaping the day-to-day work life for a tropical vacation in Mexico was a #1 hit for the Zac Brown Band in 2009. Recalling the island vibes of Jimmy Buffett and Kenny Chesney, "Toes" was slightly controversial in that its intro lyric — "I got my toes in the water, ȧss in the sand" — was edited without the curse word for its radio release.

Shelton scored his third #1 hit in 2004 with the double-entendre-packed tune "Some Beach." You'll have to listen for yourself to figure out the meaning here, but suffice it to say, there's a deeper meaning here than just pining for more tropical surroundings.

Not to be confused with the classic from Porgy & Bess, Kenny Chesney's take on "Summertime" is nearly as iconic. It's about the things that make summer great when you're a kid, like hearing great songs on the radio, falling in love, and sneaking sips of wine — even the most cynical among us can't deny its appeal.

Most songs about summer are about soaking up the sun, but "Fishin' In The Dark" is the kind of summer track that folks in the South can really appreciate. It's too hot in much of the country to be hanging out with your lady outdoors, but nightfall's cool breezes and lightning bugs sure do make for a romantic ambiance. Whether or not there's actually any fishing going on is another matter altogether.
