Jeremy Allen White may be playing one of the most iconic wrestlers ever in his upcoming film The Iron Claw, but he doesn’t know if he has what it takes to step into the ring himself.

Speaking to TMZ recently, Jeremy Allen White was asked if he would ever consider stepping into a real wrestling ring. The actor was quick to shake off the idea, saying that he didn’t know if he was capable of it.

“Getting into it for real? I don’t know. I don’t know if I’m capable,” White said. He also acknowledged that “I think I learned a little bit” in his training.

White was also asked about the perception that wrestling isn’t a “real sport.” The actor said that “it’s a super athletic sport, of course,” and that you have to be an athlete to compete.”

In The Iron Claw, White stars Kerry Von Erich, a member of the infamous Von Erich Family, a wrestling dynasty. Zac Efron also plays Kerry’s brother, Kevin Von Erich, in the film. The cast is rounded out by Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich, Maura Tierney as Doris Von Erich, Stanley Simons as Mike Von Erich, Holt McCallany as Fritz Von Erich, and Lily James as Pam Adkisson.

MJF makes a cameo in the film as Lance Von Erich, and NWA’s Thrillbilly Silas Mason appears as Terry Gordy.

The Iron Claw will be released in theatres on December 22, 2023.
