Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were the celebrity couple of millennials’ dreams. Their relationship was off and on for years in the 2010s, with their final breakup happening in 2018. After that, Justin got back together with his other on-again, off-again girlfriend, Hailey Baldwin, and the two got married, making her Hailey Bieber. 

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth first met on the set of The Last Song, and their subsequent relationship went through as many highs and lows as the movie. After breaking up and getting back together multiple times, the couple tied the knot, but they split after less than a year of marriage. 

Miley Cyrus isn't the only one in her family with a famous on-again, off-again relationship. Her parents have gone through their share of breakups. The couple filed for divorce twice and got back together before filing a third and final time. Now, both are in committed relationships with other people. 

The Weeknd and Bella Hadid were on and off again for a solid four years at the end of the 2010s. Hints left in The Weeknd’s music, coupled with statements from Bella and her mother, Yolanda Hadid, have allowed fans to put together the puzzle of their relationship to some extent. Still, we’ll likely never have the whole picture. 

On-again, off-again relationships are nothing new. Old Hollywood stars Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood had an on-again, off-again romance, first marrying in 1957 and then again in 1972. The couple stayed married the second time until Wood died in 1981, and during their second marriage, they had one child together. 

While Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood were having their on-again, off-again romance, so were Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are notable people and a notable couple for many reasons, one of which is their longtime relationship. But these two have been on and off in the past. They've staved off rumors of divorce, but they did separate for a while in 2016 before reuniting and renewing their vows. 

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck proved to the world that sometimes, an extended period of being off again is exactly what's needed for a relationship to work. After breaking off their engagement in the early 2000s, the couple got back together in 2021 and married a year later. 

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green's on-again relationship included two engagements before marriage. Their off-again relationship included two divorce filings before they split for good. These days, Fox is engaged to musician MGK, and Green is engaged to dancer Sharna Burgess. 

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are technically an on-again, off-again couple, but their off moments haven't lasted long. The two started dating in 2010 and broke up for the first time in 2013.
