Remembering Lindsay Lohan's iconic roles

This fun Christmas rom-com marks Lohan’s long-awaited return to the screen. She plays Sierra Belmont, a wealthy hotel heiress who falls down a hill while being proposed to and loses her memory. Sierra is taken in by a small-town stranger, played by Chord Overstreet, and his daughter while she recovers.

This romantic comedy follows the story of Thea Clayhill, a young secretary who lies about being pregnant to keep her job. Sporting a fake pregnant belly, Thea must convince everyone in her life that she’s expecting.

Lohan stars as Elizabeth Taylor in this biographical Lifetime drama. Liz and Dıck recounts the years-long romance between Taylor and Richard Burton, following their first meeting at a party and the beginning of their affair on-set to the destruction of their marriages and Burton’s death.

This fictionalized drama occurs in the hours leading up to Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination. The film follows the lives of multiple characters, including Diane Howser (Lohan), a woman marrying her best friend in the hopes it will help him avoid deployment.

Lohan’s character is a rebellious teen who often pushes the limits with her mom, played by Felicity Huffman. Lohan is sent to live with her grandmother in Idaho, a strict woman named Georgia, played by the iconic Jane Fonda.

In this 2006 classic, Lohan plays Ashley Albright, the luckiest girl in Manhattan. When Ashley kisses Jake, a consistently ill-fated guy played by Chris Pine, their fortunes flip, and Ashley finds herself down on her luck for the first time.

Making her debut in the world of thrillers, Lohan plays Audrey Fleming, a girl kidnapped by a serial killer. When she is found two weeks later and brought to help, the girl insists that she is not Aubrey Fleming and instead is a stripper who has only just moved to town. Soon, she starts to be haunted by visions. 

Starring as herself in this film, Lohan appears alongside Charlie Sheen. At the film's beginning, the two make a sex tape when demons possess them. 

This fun Disney film stars Lohan alongside more Disney royalty, Brenda Song. Lohan plays Lexi, a rich kid in Manhattan who dishes all the drama in her school newspaper. When one of her teachers goes missing, Lexi attempts to solve the mystery behind his disappearance.

In another of her classic childhood roles, Lohan plays Casey Stuart, a girl who uncovers a resurrection spell and attempts to bring back her dead mother. Things go awry when Casey accidentally brings to life Eve, her Barbie-like doll played by Tyra Banks. 

This musical comedy takes a fictionalized peek into the world of A Prairie Home Companion , a variety radio show that ran from 1974 to 2016. The film’s cast includes Meryl Streep and Kevin Klein alongside Lohan and recounts the performers’ last show before their venue is scheduled to be demolished.

Beep beep! Lindsay’s at it again with another Disney remake deal. Maggie Peyton (Lohan) dreams of following in her dad's footsteps and becoming a NASCAR driver. When she acquires Herbie, an old Volkswagen bug with a mind of its own (literally), she’s taken on the ride of a lifetime. 

Another memorable moment that is just SO early 2000s. Lohan stars as Mary Elizabeth Cep, a New York teen who goes by Lola. Lola dreams of becoming a famous actor — but her world is turned upside down when her family moves to the New Jersey suburbs. Lola makes it her new goal to become the most popular girl in school but must face off with the school’s queen bee, Carla Santini, played by none other than Megan Fox.

In this early-aughts classic, Lohan stars alongside Jamie Lee Curtis as a rebellious teen who mysteriously changes bodies with her polar-opposite mom. The two are forced to face their differences and find a mutual understanding in one another. Bonus points for the soundtrack: Lohan’s character has a few tracks with her character’s fictional girl band. Will we ever get a sequel?

What’s better than one Lindsay? Two, of course! In her first breakout role, Lohan plays Hallie Parker and Annie James, 12-year-old twins separated at birth by their parents. After the girls meet at summer camp, they scheme to swap lives and reunite their parents. 

Perhaps her most *iconic* role, Lohan plays Cady Heron, the new girl at school who quickly finds herself wrapped up in the cruel, A-list world of “The Plastics” led by Regina George. Cady gets in over her head and has to face the truth about her new “friends” — and herself.
