Megastars who have yet to perform the Super Bowl Halftime Show

Most artists consider performing the Super Bowl Halftime Show the honor of a lifetime. It's an achievement only few reach, and these stars have surprisingly yet to provide the entertainment.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift
USA Today

We figure it’s only a matter of time before Taylor Swift gets tapped to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. She’s got the discography, she is quite familiar with playing in stadiums, and she definitely has fans of all ages. But, like with most things she does, we’re guessing Swift is just waiting for the right time before she performs.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande
USA Today

We’re not certain Ariana Grande would headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, but we could easily see her being part of a group that’s asked to perform. Grande has teamed up with several different powerhouse female vocalists in the past, and any one of her past collaborators could perform with her to put on a great halftime show.

Drake

Drake
Broadway Video

No solo rapper has ever headlined the Super Bowl Halftime Show. The closest we’ve gotten was in 2022 when Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Mary J. Blige performed. But if any solo rapper could headline the show, it’d be Drake. He has more No. 1 songs than any other rapper in history, and we’re certain he put on one heck of a show.

Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran
USA Today

Ed Sheeran has broad appeal. He’s an incredible vocalist, and although he’s a one-man show, he’s proved capable of putting on a show in a stadium. He’s got lots of hits and can collaborate with a vast array of other musicians, so he’d have some incredible surprise performances.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber
USA Today

Like with Taylor Swift, we imagine it’s only a matter of time before Justin Bieber performs at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Though, unlike Taylor Swift, we’re not certain he would headline it. He would be perfect to perform with a group of artists. Now that we think about it, Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande should headline the halftime show. Who do we need to talk to about this to make it happen?

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey
USA Today

Mariah Carey has sung the national anthem at the Super Bowl, but she’s never performed at halftime. We imagine a lot of her performance would just be her walking around and singing runs and whistle notes, but we’d be here for it. She’s collaborated with so many incredible artists that her surprise appearances could put her among the ranks of one of the best halftime performances of all time if she had the chance.

Backstreet Boys

Backstreet Boys
USA Today

NSYNC performed during their heyday, but for some strange reason, Backstreet Boys didn’t have that same opportunity. They’ve only sung the national anthem. But they could put on one heck of a medley that would get everybody in that stadium singing along. Nothing brings groups of people together like Backstreet Boys songs. It would be a healing experience for everyone in America.

Elton John

Elton John
USA Today

Elton John has retired from touring, but if he’s going to come out of retirement for anything, it should be the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Everybody knows Elton John's songs, whether they realize it or not. Everything he’s ever written is a hit, and we know that the costumes would be fabulous.

Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks
USA Today

The Super Bowl Halftime Show rarely has country artists perform, but few artists in the world are as successful as Garth Brooks. And country music has been more mainstream lately than it has in years. Garth Brooks would be an excellent headliner for the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Adele

Adele
USA Today

Adele is one of the greatest vocalists of our generation. And she doesn’t just have ballads. She’s got upbeat songs that we all know and love. If she can belt out her tunes for hours at a Las Vegas show, she can certainly sing her hits for 15 minutes at halftime.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus
USA Today

Miley Cyrus is another artist that would be perfect to join a group to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show. But if they did want to give her her own show, she could just sing covers, and we would be happy to listen to her. Cyrus is an underrated talent, and she deserves the chance to shine on one of the biggest stages of the year.

Post Malone

Post Malone
USA Today

As popular as Post Malone is, he rarely appears at big functions like the Super Bowl. We don’t know whether he just isn’t invited or if he declines invitations, but if he’s going to appear at any of these major functions, it should be to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Harry Styles

Harry Styles
USA Today

After Harry Styles finished his Love On Tour after nearly two years of performing, he told crowds that he would be taking a break for a while. There would be no better time for him to return to the public eye than to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. It would also be the perfect time for a One Direction reunion. He’d have everyone in the crowd on their feet.

Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac
USA Today

Fleetwood Mac has said that they will never reunite again, so this is probably nothing more than wishful thinking. But if they were to get together for a performance, the Super Bowl Halftime Show would be a great place. We’re surprised they have never been asked to perform, but we would imagine it’s because it’s been hard to keep track of who was in the band and who wasn’t for the past 20 years.

Imagine Dragons

Imagine Dragons
USA Today

If Imagine Dragons seem like an odd choice to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, remember that Coldplay has performed. Imagine Dragons could invite someone to perform with them that you would never expect them to collaborate with, as Coldplay did with Beyoncé, and it could be the kind of strange but good Super Bowl Halftime Show we’ve become accustomed to.

AC/DC

AC/DC
USA Today

AC/DC is another band that has surprisingly never performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Had the halftime shows been in the ‘70s and ‘80s like they are now, AC/DC likely would’ve headlined already. Now and again, a classic artist is slated for the halftime show, so it might as well be one of the most successful bands of all time.

Pitbull

Pitbull
USA Today

How has Mr. Worldwide never performed during the Super Bowl? All of his songs are tracks to dance to, and he could assemble a great group of artists to make for one of those hodgepodge performances the Super Bowl is so fond of.

Guns N’ Roses

Guns N’ Roses
USA Today

Guns N’ Roses has performed at the Super Bowl Fest, but never the halftime show. The producers of the halftime show want to appeal to a large audience, and Guns N’ Roses would be just the group. Like AC/DC, had popular artists performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show 40 years ago, Guns N’ Roses probably would’ve by now, but there’s no reason they can’t today.

Jay-Z

Jay-Z
USA Today

Jay-Z began producing the Super Bowl Halftime Show when the NFL struck up a deal with Roc Nation to take charge of important musical events for the league. He certainly has the power to perform at the show, so he might as well make himself the headliner.

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood
USA Today

Carrie Underwood has done a lot for the NFL. She sang the national anthem at one Super Bowl, and she’s the voice of NBC's Sunday Night Football. As far as women in country music go, Underwood is as popular as any, and if they were to put together a medley of country artists for the performance, she’d be a great selection.
