Kristin Davis auditioned for 'Friends' before landing 'Sex and the City'

Kristin Davis guest-starred in one episode of "Friends," but she could have had a much larger role.

"I was one of, like, 8,000 young ladies who went for Monica, and Courteney Cox got her," the 56-year-old actress shared on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" this week. "But Courteney and I were in the same yoga class at the time, and we used to hang out. The rest of us were unemployed actor, waitresses types."

We would hang out after class, and one day, Courteney was like, 'Hey, guys, do you want to come car shopping with me?'" Davis continued. "We were like, 'Wow, car shopping...' She said, 'I did this pilot. I'm feeling really good about it. I think I'm gonna buy a Porsche!' We were like, 'Wow! Is she for real?!' And it was 'Friends.' And it did go very well."

Davis' appearance on the iconic sitcom came in 2000, the seventh episode of Friends' seventh season, and she played Joey's (Matt LeBlanc) tricky love interest Erin.

At the time, Davis was three seasons deep as Charlotte York on "Sex and the City."

"Sex and the City" ran for six seminal seasons on HBO from 1998 to 2004, and HBO Max's limited series revival "And Just Like That..." premiered last week with new episodes hitting the streamer every Thursday until Feb. 3, 2022.

The reboot regathers Charlotte, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) "as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s."
