George Clooney on 'Ticket to Paradise' rom-com with Julia Roberts: 'This one is something special'

When most people see George Clooney, Julia Roberts and romantic comedy in the same sentence, they will immediately buy in.

Clooney is giving people extra incentive to see Ticket to Paradise once it comes out.

"Well, this one is something special," the two-time Oscar winner told Deadline. "This guy named Ol Parker is a really wonderful writer and director, and he wrote us a script, and I haven’t done a romantic comedy really since One Fine Day, and more than that. I’ve done some sort of snarky ones, you know, and in this one Julia and I just get to be mean to each other in the funniest way."

"The minute I read it I called Julia, and I said, ‘Did you get this?’ and she said, 'Yeah,' and I said ‘Are you going to do it?’ and she goes ‘Are you going to do it? and I said, ‘Yeah, if you do it,'" he continued. "So, it was just one of those very lucky things."

Clooney, 60, added that he and Roberts have been "having the time of our lives" filming the movie in Australia, though it is temporarily shut down due to COVID outbreaks.

Ticket to Paradise marks the first time the two A-list movie stars have worked together since 2016 crime drama Money Monster. They also, of course, teamed up for Ocean's Eleven and Ocean's Twelve way back in 2001 and 2004, respectively.

Last month, while on set in Australia, Roberts silently crashed Clooney's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live (four-minute mark):

Ticket to Paradise casts Clooney and Roberts as exes who come together in order to travel to Bali together and prevent their daughter from getting married and "making the same mistake they made 25 years ago."

Lucas Bravo, Kaitlyn Dever and Billie Lourd also star.
