Demi Lovato once slid in 'Schitt's Creek' star Emily Hampshire's DMs and asked her on a date

There is no shame to Demi Lovato's game.

Wednesday's (Sept. 1) 4D with Demi Lovato featured Emily Hampshire, known primarily as Stevie Budd on Schitt's Creek, and a revelation about how the two powerhouses met prior to recording the podcast episode:

The 53-minute interview also explored Hampshire, 40, coming out as pansexual and realizing she was pansexual because of the below Schitt's Creek scene from the first season's 10th episode where David Rose (Dan Levy) uses wine as a metaphor for his sexuality:

"I had never heard the word pansexual before," Hampshire told Lovato, who came out as pansexual and as non-binary (they/them) earlier this year. "And I also was having trouble even understanding the whole—I know everyone else got the wine metaphor, but when I was doing the scene, I had a bit of trouble. ... What was weird was I've always considered myself super knowledgable about LGBTQ+ stuff just because everybody in my life, my friends, are all mostly LGBTQ+ people, but I didn't know this."

"I came out because I was being asked, and it was also liberating in a way," she later added. "Also a self-discovery thing in a way because I can look back in high school and see that I wasn't just wanting to be like the girls. I wanted to, like, f—k the girls."

Lovato, 29, then pivoted the conversation to give Hampshire the opportunity to speak publicly for the first time about her past experience with an eating disorder—she mentioned anorexic tendencies, bulimia, diets and diet pills—for which she received in-patient treatment one month before beginning Schitt's Creek. Hampshire said Lovato (and Jane Fonda) speaking out about their eating disorders "really helped me."
