Demi Lovato announces seventh studio album will drop April 2

Demi Lovato is going to start April with a bang.

The 28-year-old Grammy nominee announced Monday that Dancing With the Devil: The Art of Starting Over will arrive April 2, falling in the middle of her four-part YouTube documentary series' run from March 23 to April 6:

The first trailer for Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil dropped Feb. 17, and the documentary will make its debut as the headliner of SXSW's opening night Tuesday:

Lovato nearly died after a drug overdose in 2018, and the trailer already gave an unprecedented look into the incident as she disclosed she suffered three strokes and a heart attack. "I crossed a line that I had never crossed," she said. "I snapped. ... My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes."

The Platinum-certified recording artist has been open about her battles against addiction and eating disorders throughout her career. She first sought treatment in 2010, and prior to her overdose, had been sober for six years.

Since 2018, Lovato has released singles "Anyone," "I Love Me," "Dancing with the Devil," and most recently "What Other People Say" with Sam Fischer.

"According to reps, it's a 'deeply personal album' and is executive produced by Lovato and her manager, Scooter Braun," Billboard relayed.

Lovato is the cover star of Glamour's newest issue, too. In the cover story by Christopher Rosa, she addressed her overdose and said she suffers from tinnitus and residual blind spots that prevent her from driving. She also came out as "really queer" and discussed how previous albums were derived from "different identities that felt authentic to me but weren't me."

The Art of Starting Over, it seems, will be the first time fans get to see Lovato fully and truly as she is.
