Chadwick Boseman's family isn't upset over Anthony Hopkins winning best actor

Derrick Boseman is pretty sure that everybody else is way more concerned with who won best actor at the 93rd Academy Awards than his brother would have been.

The late Chadwick Boseman, who died last August after a secret four-year bout with colon cancer, was nominated at the Oscars in the best leading actor category for his work as trumpet player Levee in Netflix's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom

The Black Panther icon's fans and peers were certain that the award was posthumously Boseman's when Sunday night's broadcast was reshuffled to place best actor as the last presented category, usually reserved for best picture, but Anthony Hopkins won for The Father.

"Chadwick's brother, Derrick Boseman, tells TMZ ... he doesn't view Chadwick not winning an Oscar for Best Actor as a snub because every nominated actor was excellent and deserving of the award," the outlet relayed Monday. "He says the family isn't upset or agitated whatsoever that Chadwick's name wasn't called at the end of the Oscars ceremony."

Derrick also told TMZ that Chadwick had "always described [the Oscars] to me as a campaign," and therefore wouldn't have dwelled over Hopkins beating him out.

Hopkins, who became the oldest actor to win an Oscar in any category at 83 years old, made sure to tribute Boseman in his remote acceptance speech:

Ma Rainey's was Boseman's final role, and this was his only Oscar nomination despite his lasting work portraying Black Panther/T'Challa as well as historical figures such as James Brown (Get on Up), Jackie Robinson (42) and Thurgood Marshall (Marshall).

The 43-year-old has been posthumously recognized for Ma Rainey's with wins at the BAFTA Awards, Critics' Choice Awards and Golden Globes.
