21 celebrities that turned to reality TV

Reality TV in the ‘80s and ‘90s wasn’t quite what it is today. It used to be about the so-called Real World and wild antics on shows like Cops, but at the turn of the century transformed into some of the most-watched television out there. So much so that famous faces started to run towards the chance to be a part of it. Whether it was by scoring their own reality series, hosting, or just appearing as a contestant, these are some of the most notable celebrities that turned to reality TV.

Dating shows are nothing new. Love Connection and The Bachelor helped launch those types of shows into homes across the country, but VH1 took it a step further when they placed rapper and notable hype man Flavor Flav in a mansion with a bevy of women competing for his heart on Flavor of Love. It was an addicting, lawless time in television that most have to be grateful for because not only was it entertaining, but it led to a cascade of spinoffs, including the iconic I Love New York.
