Wisconsin Football: Former Coach Gets Brutally Honest on Unceremonious Badgers Exit

At the moment, Leonhard hasn’t secured his next gig yet. This is in spite of the fact that there appears to be a significant demand for competent defensive coordinators in the league. Nevertheless, the 40-year-old coach isn’t sweating it. At this point, he’s just waiting for the right moment to come:

“I’m being patient,” Leonhard said, via Karley Marotta of WKOW. “I am excited about where I am at with my family and just figuring out what’s next, what the next steps are. I had some health things I needed to take care of after the season so just excited to enjoy a fall with a little bit more low key.”

Leonhard also made it clear that he has no bad blood with the Badgers, regardless of his rather unceremonious exit. He did admit, however, that his departure could have turned out better than it did:

“I loved my time here at Wisconsin and really enjoyed every step of the way,” he said. “Unfortunately, things didn’t end up the way I wanted to, but I am excited to figure out what is next. I don’t know what that is going to be yet, but I am excited to find out.”

Wisconsin Football: Jim Leonhard Sends Strong Message to Young Kids Looking to Make Their Mark

Leonhard made his statements in a recent youth football camp that he hosted. The former UW safety held the free training camp in St. Francis Xavier on Wednesday, and as expected, a lot of kids took part in the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Leonhard sent a special message to the kids who were in attendance as he discussed what he hopes to accomplish with this recent venture:

“Number one is finding that passion for the game and learning how to compete a little bit, learning that there’s some pretty amazing lessons within team sports, and in my opinion especially football so just want to pass that on,” he said. “I have enough of a reputation that they will listen to me. I just want to help the area and help these coaches out. They do a phenomenal job of getting these kids started on their athletic careers and just want to help out in anyway I can.”
