Trio of schools doing battle for 2025 five-star OT

David Sanders Jr. is a massive recruit, both literally and figuratively.

The five-star offensive tackle checks in at 6-foot-6, 270 pounds. He's not even a senior in high school yet, mind you.

The rankings are also very kind to Sanders. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings he's the No. 1 offensive tackle recruit in the 2025 class. He's also the No. 2 overall recruit, behind only LSU quarterback commit Bryce Underwood.

Sanders Jr. obviously has a ton of offers (36 to be exact) but he's getting ready to start trimming some of the fat on his offer sheet.

“This month in particular is going to be very serious for me and my family to cut the list down,” Sanders recently told On3. “Trying to deal with everybody just isn’t the healthiest way to go. And with me getting closer to my decision, I want to have a very strong decision and take advantage of the opportunity to take visits to these schools, like spring practices, official visits and games. And I don’t want to be somewhere every single weekend, so that’s big for me.”

Big-time schools like Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State and Michigan have all made offers to Sanders, among many others, but On3 recruiting insider Matt Ray believes this will end up being a three horse race.

'I think David Sanders is genuinely intrigued by Georgia, but I think Tennessee and Clemson have positioned themselves the best heading into a big slate of spring visits and then summertime official visits," Ray said.

Sanders is from Charlotte, North Carolina, so it seems like playing in the south makes the most sense. Clemson may not be in the SEC like Tennessee and Georgia are, but Dabo Swinney's program is still one of the best in the country and Clemson is just a three hour drive away.

It's worth noting that Sanders is expected to take an official visit to Clemson in early June. Tennessee is expected to have him on campus this spring and Georgia is well, Georgia.

It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.
