In Sun Belt Conference football, there are teams and players to watch in Week 3. On Saturday, they look to pick up where they have left off in the first two weeks. For example, Old Dominion beat Va. Tech in week one. In addition, Appalachian State, Marshall, and Georgia Southern took down #6 Texas A&M on the road, #8 Notre Dame in South Bend, and Nebraska in Lincoln respectively in week two.

Sun Belt Conference Football-Players to Watch Week 3

RB Khalan Laborn, Marshall (2-0)-Sun Belt Conference Rushing Leader

Laborn is ranked #6 nationally in rushing at 132 yards per game, averaging six yards per rush. He has rushed for 265 yards and 3 touchdowns in the first two weeks. Laborn carried 31 times for 163 yards, and one touchdown in the 26-21 win over #8 Notre Dame.

As a result, he leads the Sun Belt Conference in rushing and so far this season he has four runs of over 20 yards.

In addition, he carried 12 times for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns in a win over Norfolk State in week one. He averaged 8.5 yards per carry in that game.

The Thundering Herd take on Bowling Green on Saturday.

QB Kyle Vantrease, Georgia Southern (2-0):

Vantrease is the leader in the Sun Belt and is ranked #2 in the FBS in passing at 388 yards per game. He has passed for 776 yards, five TDs, and 3 INTs in the first two weeks. In the 45-42 win over Nebraska, Vantrease threw for 409 yards and a touchdown.

Against Morgan St., he passed for 367 yards, four touchdowns, and an INT in a 59-7 win.

On Saturday, Georgia Southern faces off against UAB.

WR Ali Jennings III, Old Dominion (1-1)-Sun Belt Conference Receiving Leader

Jennings leads the Sun Belt and the FBS in receiving at 161 yards per game. He has caught 13 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns, including eight catches for 200 yards and three TDs in a loss to East Carolina last Saturday.

Georgia Southern and Virginia will battle it out on Saturday.

LB Jason Henderson, Old Dominion:

Henderson is tied for 3rd in the FBS in total tackles with 31 so far this season. In addition, he leads the Sun Belt Conference in this category.

QB Gunnar Watson, Troy (1-1):

Watson has passed for 626 yards, 5 TDs, and 3 INTs in two games this season. He is ranked 13th nationally at 313 yards passing per game. Last week, Troy beat Alabama A&M 38-17, a game in which Watson threw for 351 yards, 4 TDs, and 2 INTs.

The Trojans take on Appalachian State on Saturday. ESPN College GameDay will broadcast their pregame show live from the Mountaineers campus in Boone, NC.
