There were no former Tennessee Vols selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but that was expected to be the case.
No former Vols were projected as first round picks this year.
Former Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright is expected to be the first former Vol selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. And he could hear his name called on night two of the draft, which gets underway on Friday evening.
Wright has been going in the third round in recent mock drafts.
There are several teams with picks in the back half of the third round that could use a running back, including the team that I think will end up selecting the Durham, NC native.
The Dallas Cowboys are the franchise that I think will land Wright on Friday night. Dallas has the No. 87 overall pick (Round Three), which is right in the range where Wright has been predicted to land.
Reminder: Jaylen Wright can FLY

The Cowboys' depth chart at running back right now isn't very impressive. For now, Rico Dowdle and Deuce Vaughn sit atop the depth chart.
Dallas could select Wright in the third round and instantly add some depth to that group. They would also get the benefit of getting one of the top running backs in the draft on a third round rookie contract. It would be a smart on-the-field move and a smart off-the-field move for the Cowboys.
