The Penn State football team is starting to load up official visits for this summer. One of the biggest selling points of committing to the Nittany Lions is seeing the campus, facilities, and meeting coaches face to face. It’s no secret that Penn State needs help at wide receiver, especially from a recruiting and developing standpoint. Help could potentially be on the way as this 2025 recruiting class WR and No. 1 player in Missouri, Corey Simms has set an official visit with Penn State.

Penn State football sets official visit with No. 1 player in Missouri

Corey Simms is from Saint Louis (MO) and attends Christian Brothers College. Simms is a 6-3 185-pound wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class. Simms holds a four-star ranking on Rivals where they rank him as the No. 1 player in Missouri.

What makes Simms impressive is the numbers he put up during the 2023 season. He accounted for 79 catches for 1,049 yards and 12 touchdowns. Proving he can be a No. 1 option for any offense at the next level. The Penn State football team offered Simms on October 31, 2023, and then he made an unofficial visit on January 20, 2024.

Now, Simms has set his official visit with the Nittany Lions which will take place from May 31 through June 2.

Nittany Lions needs to land more playmakers

It’s an obvious statement but Penn State needs more help at the wide receiver position. Looking ahead to the 2024 season, the Nittany Lions will be without KeAndre Lambert-Smith , who entered the transfer portal last week. They will also be without Malick Meiga who primarily contributed on special teams. It would be a bit of a surprise if the Nittany Lions do not add at least one wide receiver from the transfer portal.

Then, looking ahead on the recruiting trail in the 2025 recruiting class Penn State has one wide receiver commit in Lyrick Samuel. Penn State needs to continue to push forward to find talent on the recruiting trail.
