Former Spartan Keon Coleman is expecting a big year from fourth-year MSU wideout Montorie Foster Jr. in 2023.

We are officially less than two weeks away from Michigan State football.

That means it’s still technically hype season where fans buy into positive storylines about all players coming from coaches and media during fall camp. But when the hype comes from former or current players about a potential breakout candidate, it’s easier to buy into. Especially when that hype comes from someone like Keon Coleman who left the program abruptly.

Coleman has been spotted on social media giving props and praise to former teammates in East Lansing. He’s been on Instagram showing support for the Spartans and most recently, he posted on Twitter (X) with some hype about a former receiver teammate.

Michigan State’s official Twitter account posted a video about Montorie Foster Jr. entering his senior year and did a little profile on him. Basically, it was saying that he could be due for a big year if he can stay healthy. The only thing that has really held back the athletic wideout through his first three years in East Lansing has been health. Well, that and sitting behind three NFL receivers (Coleman, Jayden Reed, Jalen Nailor).

Coleman saw the video and posted “They go find out” with a green checkmark and a handshake emoji. Basically, he’s saying that everyone is about to find out just how talented Foster is.

While a lot of fans have negative feelings toward the whole Coleman departure, especially when he called his time in East Lansing a “two-year sentence”, it’s cool to see him still showing support for his former teammates.

Foster is a guy who could legitimately break out this season and people seem to be overlooking him because he hasn’t stayed healthy for consistent stretches. He did show flashes in 2021 when he caught 12 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown but he had just seven receptions for 98 yards and a score in 2022. If he can stay on the field all year as a starting wideout, I can see him shocking some people and putting up big numbers.

Apparently so can Keon Coleman.
