FSU Football's DJ Uiagalelei Reveals Thoughts On Facing Clemson Football In 2024

Florida State Seminoles' quarterback DJ Uiagalelei does not have any hard feelings towards one of his previous schools.

Before transferring to play for FSU football, Uiagalelei spent time at Clemson and Oregon State. He was recently asked by Andy Staples of On3 if it will be a "little weird" when Clemson - the program he spent three years at that also happens to be a major rival of Florida State - comes to Tallahassee in the middle of the 2024 season.

"I think yeah, because that was somewhere I played at. That was my first place I played at, that's the place I graduated from," Uiagalelei said to Staples. "A lot of my friends are still on the team. A lot of the coaches I still know. And I still have a lot of love for Clemson, and they did nothing, but it was an amazing time I had at Clemson."

He's since moved on to two other schools, but his relationship with his first program hasn't changed.

"Granted, my journey ended up taking me somewhere else, but I loved my time at Clemson. Coach (Dabo) Swinney was an amazing coach, all of the guys there were great. Every single staff member there was great, and I loved them, and I graduated... my best friends still play there. I still talk to them to this day, my brothers are still on that team."

Despite his love for the Tigers, DJU agrees that it won't feel the same when Clemson rolls into town on October 5.

"When that time comes, it'll definitely be different."

During his time with the Tigers, Uiagalelei completed 59.8% of his passes for 5,681 yards, 36 passing touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. He also rushed for 913 yards and 15 scores.

In his lone season at Oregon State, DJU threw for 2,638 yards with a 21/7 TD/INT ratio. He averaged a career-best 8.4 yards per attempt while adding six scores on the ground.
