FSU Football Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei Listed as Top-25 Signal-Caller For 2024 Season

The 2024 college football season is going to mark a new era across the sport. With the addition of the 12-team format to the College Football Playoff as well as conference realignment coming to fruition, things will look plenty different.

The same goes for the Florida State Seminoles in the upcoming season, too. For a team that thrived in the transfer portal, the Seminoles sent off their star-studded players to pro football and are stepping into a new era, which will see a different face at quarterback for the first time in years.

As Jordan Travis is among those headed to the pros, Oregon State transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei will be handed the keys under center for the Seminoles for his final season of college football.

After an underwhelming three-year stint at Clemson -- an ACC rival of the Seminoles -- Uiagalelei thrived in Oregon State's offense to rebuild his reputation. He now gets a chance to prove such in his second stint in the ACC, this time in garnet and gold. Where does Uiagalelei rank across college football at his position, though?

Brad Crawford of 247Sports ranked Uiagalelei No. 19 among all quarterbacks in the sport. 

"Many wondered how "DJU" would fare in the Pac-12 last season at Oregon State and after finally playing within an offense that catered to his strengths, he gave us a positive answer," Crawford wrote. "Uiagalelei is back in the ACC where he'll get a redemption opportunity after an inconsistent showing during three years at Clemson, previously."

Over his four-year collegiate career, Uiagalelei has thrown for 8,319 yards while completing 59 percent of his passes. In doing so, the 6-foot-4 quarterback has scored 57 passing touchdowns to his 24 interceptions. Uiagalelei has also added 1,132 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground.

Taking over under center to follow up Travis will be no easy task. During his tenure, Travis -- with the help of head coach Mike Norvell -- developed enough to help the Seminoles back to an elite status as a college football program. It certainly takes a top-25 quarterback to sustain the level of success Florida State strives for as a program.
