The NFL Combine is officially here, which means the NFL Draft is right around the corner.

A handful of former Auburn Tigers are expecting to hear their names called, so the NFL Combine is the first step in this process. The Tigers have a bunch of former starters in the secondary set to partake in the NFL Combine, with one of those players being DJ James.

@JustinM_NFL of The Draft Network reported that James interviewed with the Las Vegas Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday. He had this to say about James as a player, "Coverage versatile CB with a physical mentality. High football I.Q. + instincts. 21 PBUs in two seasons at Auburn."

James was arguably Auburn's best defensive player a season ago, right up there with Marcus Harris and Eugene Asante. Most mock drafts have James going mid to late Day 2, which would have him as a second or third-round pick in the upcoming draft.

If interviews and the drills go well, James could improve his draft stock over the next few days and potentially get himself to go earlier on Day 2.

The 49ers just played in the Super Bowl, so if James was to be drafted by them, he would be on a team competing for a ring in year one.

In 2023 for the Auburn Tigers, James had 38 tackles to go with two interceptions. James graded out at an 83.9 on the season and received a coverage grade of 88.9, proving he is ready to be a corner in the NFL.
