New Alabama Crimson Tide football coach Kalen DeBoer is in the middle of some of the most important days of his football coaching career.

DeBoer was introduced to the public on Saturday as the man to replace legendary Alabama football coach Nick Saban. His first task on the job is determining who will make up his new staff in the Mal Moore Athletic Facility.

There have already been several reports detailing new on and off field personnel as well as retaining some coaches from Saban's previous staff.

Despite the progress that DeBoer has made through two days of work, there's still an apparent vacancy for the Crimson Tide's defensive coordinator position.

According to ESPN's Chris Low former Alabama secondary coach Travaris Robinson interviewed with DeBoer over the weekend for the Tide's defensive coordinator position, but has decided to instead remain in Athens and coach the Georgia Bulldogs this season.

Robinson had been on the Alabama staff for the previous two season, working with both the cornerbacks and the safeties alongside Saban. He's known as a prolific recruiter and Saban credited him this season for helping, then defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, orchestrate the defensive game plan each week.

Robinson departed for the co-defensive coordinator role with the University of Georgia last week. He reportedly interviewed with DeBoer on Sunday and was considering returning to Tuscaloosa, but instead will coach under Kirby Smart for the Bulldogs.

The former Auburn defensive back has extensive SEC experience having coached at Auburn, Florida, Alabama and now Georgia.

DeBoer must pivot and find someone else to become the Crimson Tide's new defensive coordinator. Rumors suggest that DeBoer will consider South Alabama's Kane Wommack for the position as the pair spent time coaching together at Indiana.
