EA Sports releases teaser trailer for 'College Football 25'

After more than a decade of waiting, college football fans can finally stop holding their breath as the anticipated EA Sports "College Football 25" game is set to be released this summer.

On Thursday, EA Sports released the trailer for "College Football 25" on its EASportsCollege X account with the promise of a full reveal in May. The trailer serves as more of an update on the current status of the game rather than a preview as there is no gameplay shown. But it does acknowledge the long hiatus and skepticism from fans that the game would ever be released with the narrator stating, “We’ve seen the posts, the predictions, the doubts. We get it.”

The football series went on an 11-year break after a group of former college athletes sued EA Sports over use of their name, image and likeness without compensation. But with the new development of NIL, players are now allowed to make money from their names, opening the door for the popular series to return.

The last game from the franchise, "NCAA Football 14," was so popular that it has been kept alive by a community of dedicated fans who manually updated the roster on their own and made it available for download. Copies of the game would sell for as high as $500.

EA Sports originally announced the return of its college games three years ago with a tweet and an anticipated release date in 2023, but the game was ultimately delayed so that it could build “the best college game possible with the detail and the gameplay they are known for delivering to fans,” according to the Collegiate Licensing Company (h/t: Sports Illustrated).

Hopefully, there will be no further delays and we can finally see the game this summer.
