Bennett Warren a Priority for Oregon Along the O-Line in 2024

2024 Sugarland (Tex.) Fort Bend Christian Academy offensive tackle Bennett Warren has emerged as a priority target for the Ducks and Carlos Locklyn stopped by his school earlier this week. 

"It's been a little minute since I seen him so it was just catching up," Warren said. "We called my Mom to say hi to my mom because we do have a good relationship with Coach Lock. Coach Lock is the one who offered me as well. I got huge respect for Coach Lock."

Locklyn isn't the only coach he has a connection with on the staff, as he's also connected with A'lique Terry and the O-line staff.

"It's pretty good me and Coach Terry. I don't talk to him often, I talk to Coach (Cutter) Leftwich usually. I talk to Coach Lock a lot. Coach Terry is a really cool guy."

He sounds excited to get back to Eugene and the people around the program are part of what stands out.

"I think I'm really just most excited just to be there. It was a really good environment," Warren said. "I loved the state of Oregon. It's very beautiful. I wanna go see my man JPJ (Jackson Powers-Johnson) again. 

"He was with me for most of the visit and Josh Conerly. The great environment that the players have and the brotherhood is really intriguing to me. Just to be around those guys."

It's been a busy time at Fort Bend Christian Academy, as coaches from Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas and Michigan have all either visited him or are due in town.

Which schools are recruiting him heavily?

"Oregon yeah. Michigan is, definitely. Oklahoma is, A&M isn't really so much up there but I talk to him every one in a while. Mizzou is kind of up there, they've taken interest. Possibly Notre Dame."

The 6-foot-7, 327-pound lineman is set to kick off his official visits next month.

"I got four OVs right now," Warren said. "I got Oklahoma, A&M, Michigan, and I got Oregon."

"A&M is the first and second of June. I'm pretty sure Michigan is the ninth and the tenth. Oklahoma the 16th through the 17th and then Oregon 23rd to the 25th."

Many players shift into decision mode after official visits but that doesn't seem to be the case with the lineman from the Lone Star State.

"I think I'm gonna bring it (commitment) into the season so I can go check out a few more places before I check them off the list. So maybe mid-season, some time around then, like October area."

Warren is looking at the big picture through the recruiting process.

"Just that family environment. That family feel," he said of what he's prioritizing. "That home away from home type of deal. I want to know I'm safe where I am. That my spot is secure and I can work my hardest and if I were to get hurt that I still have a shot of playing."
