West Virginia forward Patrick Suemnick has entered the transfer portal, he announced on Wednesday, leaving the basketball program after two years.

Suemnick averaged 4.1 points and 2.6 rebounds through 32 games for the Mountaineers this past season. The 6-foot-8 forward filled in for Jesse Edwards, who dealt with a fractured wrist injury for over a month during the season and posted 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds during his six starts. Suemnick’s highlight of the 2023-24 season occurred vs. Kansas, scoring 20 points and leading the Mountaineers to an upset win over the then-No. 3 Jayhawks.

Suemnick joined West Virginia’s team in 2022 under former HC Bob Huggins. The Green Bay, Wi. native previously played at Robert Morris and Triton College (JUCO) before WVU. Suemnick stayed with the Mountaineers following Huggins’ resignation, joining interim HC Josh Eilert.

Suemnick has one year of eligibility remaining.

West Virginia has lost four players to the transfer portal during the spring window as Suemnick joins Josiah Harris (F), Kerr Kriisa (G) and Seth Wilson (G). The Mountaineers also plan on hosting Conor Enright (G – Drake) and Toby Okani (F – UIC) for visits this month. WVU has received one transfer commit during the offseason in Drake’s Tucker DeVries, as he follows his dad Darian.
