Calgary Stampeders Sign Former NFL Wide Receiver

The Calgary Stampeders get some help on the offensive side of the ball with NFL experience by signing wide receiver Auden Tate to a contract.

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Tate in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, playing in 35 games over four years. Tate accumulated 61 receptions for 799 yards and two touchdowns.

He also played for the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles during the 2022 season. His last stop was with the Arizona Cardinals last season, but was released before training camp.

Tate played in college for the Florida State Seminoles from 2015-17. He racked up 65 catches for 957 yards and 16 touchdowns in 22 games. After the 2017 season, he decided to forgo his senior year and declared for the NFL Draft.

Calgary has a crowded wide receiver room with 15 players competing for potentially five or six spots on the final roster. With Tate’s NFL experience, he has a strong chance of making the roster. He will have stiff competition led by Reggie Begelton.

The Stampeders open their season on June 7 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at home.
