Aaron Hernandez’s double-murder trial postponed

A second murder trial for former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been suspended.

Hernandez, who is already serving a life sentence for the murder of Odin Lloyd in 2013, was set to stand trial for an alleged double-homicide on Jan. 19. However, on Thursday, a motion was granted to delay the trial by Suffolk County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Locke.

Hernandez is accused of killing Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado after de Abreu accidentally bumped into Hernandez at a Boston nightclub, spilling his drink in 2012. 

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In three NFL seasons, Hernandez caught 175 passes and scored 18 touchdowns for the New England Patriots.
